Today we had MS Station from 8:15 - Noon; Topics included Bullying to Making Good Choices; HS Students (Peer Assistance) shared information/guidance on topics that MS may deal with in and out of the school day. Homework assigned Monday will be due tomorrow.

Tuesday is a 12:00 dismissal Friday, Nov. 3rd is the fall dance from 7-9 pm 8th grade will leave at 8:45 and return around 11:20 for a courtroom visit/jail tour in Lewistown, IL 6th: We will be working on "inferencing" this week. We will work on chapters 14 and 15 with socratic discussions. 7th: We just finished "Among the Hidden." We will be working on an in-class assignment this week. We will start reading "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" soon. Social Studies classes are discussing the Salem Witch Trials, so this is a great cross curricular novel. 8th: We are finishing up activities on "The Tell-Tale Heart." We are going over figurative language as well as analyzing tone/mood broken up in sections with using textual evidence.We will have new vocabulary words for "The Black Cat" on Thursday. We will also have a tone/mood quiz on Thursday. 6th Grade: Student Growth Midpoint Assessment

No School on Friday, October 27th Quarter 1 Incentive is Tuesday, October 24th for all students that qualify. We will leave at 10:45 and head to the park for lunch. Then, we will go to skateland. 6th: We are focusing on context clues this week and our test will be Thursday. We will also finish chapters 11 and 12. We will have socratic seminars while we discuss these chapters. 7th: We are still focusing on elements of plot. We will be practice identifying the elements while reading some short stories. We will finish "Among the Hidden" this week. 8th:We are working on wrapping up the short story "Tell-Tale Heart." Students finished researching and presenting on different parts of Poe before we started our "Poe" unit. We are working on tone/mood, irony, and vocabulary with this story. Qualifying Requirements: -Remaining points on the PBIS behavior chart - No more than 5 missing assignments from all core classes - No more than 5 UNexcused absences Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, October 26, 2017 *Incentive Changes for Quarter 2: Students are able to earn behavior points back by receiving a shout out for doing positive behaviors from fellow students and teachers! Quiz will be Friday and words are in google classroom. 8th- We just finished our Monster unit. We are movie on to Edgar Allan Poe. We will be focusing on irony while reading his stories/poems.
